Short description

The trojan serves as a backdoor. It can be controlled remotely.


When executed, the trojan copies itself into the following location:

  • %appdata%\­spfs\­spfs.exe

In order to be executed on every system start, the trojan sets the following Registry entries:

  • [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\­Software\­Microsoft\­Windows\­CurrentVersion\­Run]
    • "spfs" = "%appdata%\­spfs\­spfs.exe"
  • [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\­Software\­Microsoft\­Windows NT\­CurrentVersion\­Winlogon]
    • "shell" = "explorer.exe , %appdata%\­spfs\­spfs.exe"
  • [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\­Software\­Microsoft\­Windows NT\­CurrentVersion\­Windows]
    • "Load" = "%appdata%\­spfs\­spfs.exe"

The trojan launches the following processes:

  • %defaultbrowser%
  • %programfiles%\­Internet Explorer\­iexplore.exe
  • %programfilesx86%\­Internet Explorer\­iexplore.exe
  • %malwarefilepath%

The trojan creates and runs a new thread with its own code within these running processes.

Information stealing

The trojan collects the following information:

  • computer name
  • user name
  • language settings
  • malware version
  • operating system version

The trojan attempts to send gathered information to a remote machine.

Other information

The trojan acquires data and commands from a remote computer or the Internet.

The trojan contains a URL address. The TCP protocol is used.

It can execute the following operations:

  • download files from a remote computer and/or the Internet
  • run executable files
  • send the list of disk devices and their type to a remote computer
  • send the list of files on a specific drive to a remote computer
  • send requested files
  • send the list of running processes to a remote computer
  • terminate running processes
  • manipulate application windows
  • show/hide application windows
  • delete folders
  • delete files
  • move files
  • various Registry operations
  • simulate user's input (clicks, taps)
  • uninstall itself
  • update itself to a newer version
  • shut down/restart the computer

The trojan keeps various information in the following Registry keys:
