Short description

Python/Agent.F is a worm that spreads via removable media. The worm serves as a backdoor. It can be controlled remotely. The file is run-time compressed using Py2Exe .


When executed, the worm copies itself into the following location:

  • %appdata%\­iconrdb.exe

In order to be executed on every system start, the worm sets the following Registry entry:

  • [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\­Software\­Microsoft\­Windows\­CurrentVersion\­Run]
    • "iconrdb" = "%appdata%\­iconrdb.exe"
Spreading on removable media

The worm copies itself into the root folders of removable drives using the following name:

  • images.exe
Information stealing

The worm is able to log keystrokes.

The collected information is stored in the following file:

  • %appdata\­32434.log

The worm can send the information to a remote machine.

Other information

The worm acquires data and commands from a remote computer or the Internet.

The worm contains a list of (2) URLs. The SSH, FTP protocol is used in the communication.

It can execute the following operations:

  • capture screenshots
  • send requested files
  • send gathered information
  • run executable files
  • download files from a remote computer and/or the Internet
  • execute shell commands
