Short description

Win32/LockScreen.AGU is a trojan that blocks access to the Windows operating system.

Installation

The trojan does not create any copies of itself. In order to be executed on every system start, the trojan sets the following Registry entries:

  • [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\­Software\­Microsoft\­Windows\­CurrentVersion\­Run]
    • "%malwarefilename%" = "%malwarefilepath%"

The following Registry entry is set:

  • [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\­Software\­Microsoft\­Windows\­CurrentVersion\­Explorer\­Advanced]
    • "Hidden" = 2

The trojan may delete the following Registry entries:

  • [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\­SYSTEM\­CurrentControlSet\­Control\­SafeBoot\­Minimal]
  • [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\­SYSTEM\­CurrentControlSet\­Control\­SafeBoot\­Network]

The trojan displays the following dialog box:

To regain access to the operating system the user is requested to comply with given conditions in exchange for a password/instructions.


The following programs are terminated:

  • explorer.exe
  • taskmgr.exe
