Win32/Clemag.NAN is a trojan that redirects the browser to a specific URL location with malicious software. It uses techniques common for rootkits.

Installation

The trojan may create the following files:

  • %appdata%\­compmgm.exe
  • %appdata%\­compmgm.dll
  • %localappdata%\­compmgm.exe
  • %localappdata%\­compmgm.dll

The trojan may set the following Registry entries:

  • [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\­SOFTWARE\­Microsoft\­Windows\­CurrentVersion\­Run]
    • "compmgm" = "%appdata%\­compmgm.exe"

The trojan may create the following files in the %commonstartup% folder:

  • compmgm.lnk

The file is a shortcut to a malicious file.


This causes the trojan to be executed on every system start.


The trojan tries to load and inject the compmgm.dll library into all running processes.

The trojan can send the information to a remote machine.


The trojan contains a URL address. The HTTP protocol is used in the communication.
