Short description

The trojan serves as a backdoor. It can be controlled remotely.


When executed, the trojan copies itself into the following location:

  • %system%\­objframe.dll
  • %appdata%\­Microsoft\­objframe.dll

The trojan may replace existing Registry records referenced by the following Registry entries with the link to malware file:

  • [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\­SOFTWARE\­Classes\­CLSID\­{ECD4FC4D-521C-11D0-B792-00A0C90312E1}]
    • "InProcServer32"  = "%malwarefilepath%"
  • [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\­SOFTWARE\­Classes\­CLSID\­{ECD4FC4D-521C-11D0-B792-00A0C90312E1}]
    • "InProcServer32" = "%malwarefilepath%"

It creates other Registry entries:

  • [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\­SOFTWARE\­Classes\­CLSID\­{E6BB64BE-0618-4353-9193-0AFE606D6F0C}]
    • "InprocServer32" = "%originalvalue%"
  • [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\­SOFTWARE\­Classes\­CLSID\­{E6BB64BE-0618-4353-9193-0AFE606D6F0C}]
    • "InprocServer32" = "%originalvalue%"

Instead of %originalvalue% , the value(s) are taken from the following Registry entry:

  • [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\­SOFTWARE\­Classes\­CLSID\­{ECD4FC4D-521C-11D0-B792-00A0C90312E1}]
    • "InProcServer32"
  • [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\­SOFTWARE\­Classes\­CLSID\­{ECD4FC4D-521C-11D0-B792-00A0C90312E1}]
    • "InProcServer32"

The trojan can create and run a new thread with its own program code within the following processes:

  • iexplore.exe
  • firefox.exe
  • chrome.exe
Information stealing

Win32/Appetite.A is a trojan that steals sensitive information.

The trojan collects the following information:

  • information about the operating system and system settings
  • installed program components under  [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\­SOFTWARE\­Microsoft\­Windows\­CurrentVersion\­Uninstall] Registry subkeys
  • network adapter information
  • list of computer users
  • environment variables
  • proxy server settings

The trojan can send the information to a remote machine.

Other information

The trojan acquires data and commands from a remote computer or the Internet.

The trojan contains a list of (2) URLs. The HTTP, HTTPS protocol is used.

It can execute the following operations:

  • download files from a remote computer and/or the Internet
  • run executable files
  • send gathered information

The trojan hooks the following Windows APIs:

  • CreateProcessW (kernel32.dll)
  • GetSidSubAuthority (advapi32.dll)
  • CoInternetCreateZoneManager (urlmon.dll)

The trojan can modify content of the folowing files in memory:
