Installation

The trojan does not create any copies of itself.


The trojan is usually a part of other malware.


The trojan registers itself as a system service using the following name:

  • SearchADSvc

This causes the trojan to be executed on every system start.


The following Registry entry is set:

  • [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\­System\­CurrentControlSet\­Services\­SearchADSvc]
    • "Description" = "This service optimize AD queries for research."
Information stealing

Win32/Adbot.A is a trojan that steals sensitive information.


The trojan collects the following information:

  • language settings
  • Internet Explorer version
  • malware version

The trojan can send the information to a remote machine.

The trojan acquires data and commands from a remote computer or the Internet.


The trojan contains a URL address. The HTTP, IRC protocol is used.


It can execute the following operations:

  • update itself to a newer version
  • uninstall itself
